9.2 Forelle South African Pear

Description

Forelle pears from South Africa, also known as Pink Pears, were discovered in the 1600s in the northern region of Saxony, Germany. This variety is typically harvested from October to March of the following year.

Characteristics of Forelle South African Pears:

  • Pears have three characteristic colors of green – red – yellow interspersed with each other and the top is elongated, the bottom is round gourd.
  • Each fruit usually weighs about 200g – 300g.
  • Ripe pears have a fragrant, cool, and slightly sweet taste.

Nutrient contents:

A pear can provide 10% of vitamin C and a fairly large amount of calcium to help strengthen the immune system, beautify the skin, and strengthen bones.

The pectin content helps stabilize the digestive system, supports the elimination of toxins in the body, prevents digestive system cancer, and reduces bad cholesterol in the blood.

In addition, similar to apples, this pear can also increase resistance, reduce swelling and inflammation, and the risk of diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancer.

Storage instructions:

To maintain freshness and ensure nutrients, Forelle South African should be stored in the refrigerator in a sealed plastic box at temperatures from 0 degrees to 4 degrees Celsius.

If pears are stored at room temperature, they will ripen faster (after 1-3 days).

Furthermore, the thin skin of pears is prone to bruising, so it's advisable to store them in a foam box to prevent impact damage, which could lead to spoilage, bruising, and internal discoloration.
